Racing a Train
I am not sure how many times the train comes through my town. I've lived with it in the area so long, I've become accustomed to it. the only time I realize it's existence is when I am lying in the dark unable to sleep late at night and I hear that familiar rumble and the honking on the horn.
Other times it can catch you off guard and you drive right alongside it. This doesn't seem to happen to me very often, but when it does it brings on excitement. I just love it! This is a photo of me driving next to it on my way to work this morning. What's even better is when you come at it close going the opposite direction.

Oh wow :O that's really neat :)
@xdeelynnx - hehe! I needed some Monday morning excitement.
We have a rail yard nearby and lots and lots of trains too. They have finally finished the 2nd of 3 underpasses - started ~15 yrs ago... now we can drive without waiting forever on the trains. I enjoy some of the taggers' art.
This point of view makes for cool pictures.
very cool
O.o fantastic ! <3
I don't see trains much in my town. And we can't really go that close to the train with a car. Lol. There are some concrete walls fencing the railroads. But I can imagine the sound of those trains bringing excitement. :D
I love trains especially the steam ones. I haven't been on one for ages.
How exciting to drive alongside one! I can imagine the rumblings as it goes by.
I love sitting on the front porch at night and hearing the trains as they pass by from fifteen miles away.
Trains ...gotta love em unless you are waiting for one to pass and it is a long one! :) cool pic!
HA! very cool! we can race trains out here but not that close! you can reach out and touch them! i still take walk down the train tracks all the time. we lived along them as a kid throwing rocks at trains and smashing pennies!
great pics/post!!
@murisopsis - ugh...waiting is a nightmare. When it happens. It doesn't actually cross much in town, they keep it on the opposite side of the river.
@C_L_O_G - I thought the same thing,
@simplysuzu - the sound is crazy. When I kayak on the river, it actually vibrates the water.
@the_fur_pimp - it goes right alongside my friends old house, when we used to hang out there it was fun to run out and scream at the top of your lungs as it passes because no one can hear you. Weird thing we all used to do...
